Facts and Figures
Starting point and objective
In retail and logistics, the importance of IT keeps growing, and the demands placed on the relevant systems rise continuously. At Bianchi, too, system availability has long since become a decisive success factor. But gap-free monitoring of the Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) could no longer be ensured internally – alongside the many demanding tasks of day-to-day operations.
Solution
The Event Management Service (EMS) from Baggenstos offered an effective and straightforward solution: all SCOM alerts are collected and qualified by specialists in the Operations Center through an optimised process. The necessary actions are then initiated in line with Bianchi's specific requirements. Depending on the relevance, the issue is resolved either internally or by the Baggenstos specialists.
Results
Gap-free system monitoring at a fixed price: thanks to EMS, Bianchi's IT department is freed from repetitive monitoring tasks and also has the assurance that, based on the chosen service level agreement, monitoring takes place permanently – even when IT staff are absent due to holidays, training or illness.
At an attractive monthly fixed price, Bianchi benefits from guaranteed handling of all SCOM alerts. Clearly defined information and action processes ensure maximum failure resilience and offer the highest level of investment protection.
Challenges
Managed service as a foundation for future success
The systematic, proactive monitoring of the IT infrastructure is carried out with our Event Management Service (EMS). This achieves maximum availability and data security. The systems' monitoring data are watched 24/7, qualified by our operations specialists and handled according to defined SLAs.
Many thanks for the great collaboration
Baggenstos has supported Bianchi for many years, helping the company build, expand and operate its IT infrastructure with tailored services. We at Baggenstos are delighted that our solution can support Bianchi, and we thank this traditional company for its trust.

We all sleep better knowing that our SCOM alerts are monitored around the clock. It is also reassuring that, in the event of an incident, experienced and highly trained operations specialists intervene immediately. On top of that, says Roland Weber, outsourcing the monitoring tasks has freed up a substantial amount of time internally.

About
Tradition & market position
For more than 130 years, the name Bianchi has stood for the import, processing and sale of fresh food. Now based in Zufikon AG, the family-owned company is a fixture of the Swiss food industry – with a range that spans fruit and vegetables, meat and delicatessen products.
Core business
Import, processing and distribution of fresh food. With nearly 100 company-owned vehicles, Bianchi delivers to more than 8,000 customers across Switzerland every day – around 30,000 kilograms of food that have to be in the right place at the right time.
What sets them apart
In the fresh-produce trade, every minute counts. When the IT systems go down, so do the orders, the route planning and the traceability. For Bianchi, system availability is not a technical matter – it is a business-critical success factor with a direct impact on customer satisfaction.
IT environment
A centralised IT infrastructure with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) as the monitoring platform. The in-house IT team looks after a broad range of tasks – from the ERP system and logistics IT to workplace support. Round-the-clock, gap-free monitoring was no longer feasible internally.
