How the Swiss engineering firm renewed its entire IT infrastructure with Baggenstos and completed the rollout across three sites in just four days.

The IT infrastructure and organisation no longer met the requirements of the dynamic engineering company Hunziker Betatech AG. Management therefore decided to launch a tender for an outsourcing arrangement, with the flexibility and future-readiness of the new solution being the top priorities.

Starting point and objectives
For the construction service company Hunziker Betatech, the server infrastructure (hardware and software) was to be renewed for the next 5 years. The telephony was rated as inadequate and was to be replaced by Skype for Business. Packaging the entire software portfolio, including controlled patching and update management, was also on the agenda. The goal was to create a technical ICT foundation that would enable very rapid responses to new requirements. This also included the approach of getting the best out of both cloud and on-premise solutions.
Solution
During the presentation of our proposed solution, it quickly became clear that Hunziker Betatech is an innovative, straightforward company. We explained that, in order to provide a detailed, binding offer, we needed to carry out a due diligence review of the existing ICT infrastructure and organisation. “When can you get started?” was the response from Managing Director Peter Hunziker, and the assignment for the due diligence was awarded.
Soon afterwards, we received the contract for the new ICT infrastructure including migration and the Total Care Outsourcing.

Results
The new ICT infrastructure, built on a hybrid cloud solution, meets Hunziker's high requirements. The tailor-made solution enables improved communication and collaboration at all levels. Both management and employees are very satisfied with operations under the Operation Care Outsourcing, as the concluding employee survey showed. The flexibility that is maintained despite the clearly structured operating organisation is particularly appreciated.

Challenges
The decentralised IT infrastructure, which had grown over the years without central client management, posed a number of challenges for our project team:
- An extensive software portfolio with over 130 applications that had to be mapped in SCCM
- Rollout across 3 sites within 4 days, together with a staggered switchover of phone numbers per site
- A mix of new clients and existing devices that were installed and rolled out with training at more than 3 sites at different times
- Thanks to the consistent use of Office 365 tools (e.g. Forms for ordering new hardware and headsets, communication via Teams and Office 365 Groups) and the full support of Hunziker's management, these challenges were mastered to everyone's satisfaction.
Managed Service as the basis for future success
The infrastructure is operated using our Operation Care Managed Service. Our Operations Team takes care of day-to-day operations and provides rapid support in the event of incidents. Quality is guaranteed through industry-recognised best practices and clearly defined service levels (SLAs). The permanently assigned Baggenstos Service Manager handles any escalations, ensures the ongoing optimisation of support and operational processes, and supports Hunziker Betatech AG in the further development of its IT infrastructure.

The Baggenstos team did a really good job. Our demanding engineers rated the transition as very positive. With the Total Care Outsourcing, we have now created the foundation and capacity for further digitalisation.
