How the world's leading filtration specialist modernised its IT infrastructure in six months and relieved its internal IT team with the Baggenstos operating model.
Customer profile
The most important motivations for FILTROX AG's outsourcing project were the modernisation and standardisation of the ICT infrastructure, the improvement of communication and simplification of global collaboration within the teams as well as the relief of the internal IT team.
FILTROX AG has been in business for over 75 years. It is a leader in depth filtration for the filtration of high-quality liquids. As an expert in the development and manufacture of complete solutions for Swiss quality products, FILTROX stands for a wide range of applications in the life science, frying oil, chemical / industrial and food and beverage segments. The company operates globally and offers its customers a complete range of products and technical support to optimise filtration processes. FILTROX AG currently employs 350 people at 8 locations.
We were able to realise the set goals with a hybrid cloud infrastructure and our Operation Care operating model in around six months. For FILTROX, the existing on premise Windows Server and SQL databases were migrated to Azure via Rehost Windows/SQL to Azure.

Starting point and objectives
Modernising the ICT infrastructure, improving communication and collaboration as well as relieving the IT teams - these were the main motivations for FILTROX's transition and outsourcing project. As a global provider of innovative filtration processes, the step into Office 365 and Azure Cloud Services was a logical step to advance the digital transformation processes of the Filtrox Group.
Solution
A hybrid cloud infrastructure based on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365 now ensures smooth processes and improved communication.
- Transition of ICT services from traditional data center provider to Office365/Azure (Switzerland North/Western Europe).
- Standardization of Windows 10 clients and worldwide rollout with Intune/Auto-Pilot
- Replacement of TVA (traditional telephone exchange) by Teams Enterprise Voice with direct routing
- Operational support through our Managed Service Operation Care
At the same time, the previous traditional telephone exchange (mail, collaboration and voice over IP telephony) was replaced by Office 365 with Microsoft Teams. The licensed Cloud Solution Provider model (CSP) enables billing per month and user. This leads to cost optimization, as it can be adjusted to changes in the number of users at any time. The migration of data and applications to the new platform took place without interrupting daily operations.
All users can now access the central company data and applications at any time and from anywhere. The logon to the company network takes place with the cloud solution Azure AD Connect.
In the course of the solution, Windows Server and SQL Services were moved from onprem to Azure or made available again as PAAS (refactor).
Results
Operation is now handled by Operation Care and in collaboration with the local IT team. FILTROX AG can thus access a specially tailored external ICT department at a fixed price. The services include:
- ICT strategy consulting at management level to support the digitalization process
- Monitoring, system maintenance and support based on Azure Log Analytics, Automation and Monitor
- Service desk, 2nd and 3rd level support and continuous development of ICT services

IT environment
Previously a classic on-premise infrastructure with local Windows servers and SQL databases at an external data center provider. The traditional telephone exchange was no longer up to date, and client management across the various locations was too time-consuming.
