Initial situation and objective

Schaub Maler AG wanted to transition from a current hybrid infrastructure to a fully cloud-based solution. At Schaub Maler AG, the focus was on an ambitious objective: the existing local infrastructure was not only to be consolidated, but completely replaced by cloud technologies. To meet this requirement, the following core requirements were defined:

• Observance of established IT principles
• Modernization and minimization of physical, on-site infrastructure
• Predominant prioritization of cloud services
• Implementation of services such as monitoring, maintenance, service desk and support

• SLA according to OCV for infrastructure and network

Solution & Implementation

Through a detailed service audit by Baggenstos, Schaub Maler decided on the following realignments to its IT service offerings:

• Identity Management with a cloud-only approach, Multifactor Authentication, and Conditional Access.
• Use of Teams for collaboration and OneDrive for Business for employees' personal storage
• Integration of cloud services, such as Exchange Online, client management via Intune, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and Endpoint
• Network enhancements at the Zurich site, such as WLAN

The main goal of this project was to source all services - apart from network hardware and endpoints - directly from the cloud. This was achieved by using M365 services, Azure, Printix, Skykick and Abacus in a SaaS model.

Challenges

As with all IT projects, there were certain challenges. In particular, the individual support of the employees during the changeover required close supervision. The Baggenstos team recognized the importance of this intensive support and provided specific training as well as close personal support. As a result, the understanding of each individual in the company had grown, which in turn helped for a seamless integration of the new systems.
