Learning tips for beginners
The simplest way to learn about AI is, quite literally, to use it and experiment with it. Learning by doing: Copilot is on hand at every step, offering support and answering questions about itself.
If you prefer a more traditional online course, all you need is the following prompt in Copilot’s chat window: «Create a course in 10 lessons that teaches me the fundamentals of AI and how to work with Microsoft 365 Copilot Business.»
Copilot generates exercises, examples, checklists and even complete training documents. You can enrich the instruction («prompt») with additional details about the course you want.
If you would rather familiarise yourself with AI concepts online first, the German-language Baggenstos webinar«Prompt Power» from last autumn offers plenty of valuable insights.
Microsoft itself provides a wide range of AI learning resources. The Microsoft AI School focuses on practical application. The 90-minute webinars demonstrate how to become more productive with AI. You can learn how to optimise workflows with AI in this English-language course, which consists of six modules and lasts four and a half hours.
There are also many free AI courses available outside the Microsoft ecosystem. The Bern University of Teacher Education has compiled several recommended options here.

Are you a developer looking to get started? Microsoft has created a free training programme that introduces the fundamentals of AI and application development across 21 lessons.
The lessons are categorised either as «Learn» lessons, which explain a generative AI concept, or «Build» lessons, which explain a concept and include code examples in Python and TypeScript. .NET developers should take a look at Generative AI for Beginners (.NET Edition).
