9 Reasons to Switch to Windows 11 Quickly
Das Wichtigste in Kürze
- Windows 10 support ends on 14 October 2025: no updates, rising compliance and security risks, and higher operating costs
- Windows 11 brings TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Snap layouts, Copilot, Recall and Click-to-Do as well as 24% fewer unexpected restarts. Baggenstos plans the upgrade individually
Anyone with a Cloud PC from Baggenstos is in the clear – it has long been running on Windows 11. But if you are still working on a local Windows 10 PC, you should hurry, because …
1… the number 11 is a master number
In numerology, the number stands for inspiration and the power of transformation. That applies to Windows 11. The operating system is polished in every corner, enables smooth workflows and leaves time for what befits the master number: creativity.
2… support ends on 14 October
After this date there will be no more security and feature updates for Windows 10. Over time the system will contain more and more vulnerabilities through which attackers could find their way into the network and gain access to data in other systems.
3… which reassures the compliance department and lawyers
It is that simple: no updates, no compliance. And that complex: a company PC is always part of a larger whole. Often in regulated industries.
Anyone processing sensitive data on an unmaintained Windows 10 PC could therefore violate data protection laws in Switzerland and the EU. That would be more expensive than a timely switch.
4… because it gets draughty over time
Without updates, the PC falls behind the development pace of Microsoft 365. The apps of the productivity machine will still run, but development focuses on the latest Windows version. Over time that feels like sitting in front of a poorly sealed window. Draughty.
5… because otherwise it gets expensive
The cost of running Windows 10 is rising. With missing updates you have to assess the risks and protect yourself. That is about as much effort as getting a classic car ready for its roadworthiness test – but not entirely impossible. Baggenstos advises you on whether you can really take the risk. At least for a while.
6… it is easy
Baggenstos develops an upgrade strategy together with customers and finds the optimal solution. With the Quick Recovery tool administrators do not break a sweat: a secure transfer of data to the new hardware is possible.
7… the old PCs can still be used
Well, not in the business environment. We advise against that. The danger of a hacker break-in is too great. But old PCs and laptops can be upcycled and put to a new use, for example as a home server, as a learning machine for the children, or you can donate the devices. Well – in most cases this requires a new, up-to-date operating system. Why not Windows 11 right away? It might even run on the old PC.
8… Snap layouts are only available with Windows 11
A real productivity booster: Snap layouts are predefined areas on the screen in which certain windows run, e.g. side by side, in a grid or in columns. Just hover the mouse over the maximise button – and Snap! Windows 11 remembers which apps you used in a Snap layout and can later open them together again. Snap! Snap!
9… Dino Stomeo recommends it too.
Our Cloud Solution Engineer has his own arguments:
- Support ends soon: Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or help after 14 October 2025.
- Windows Blog.
- State-of-the-art security included: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, VBS and hardware protection offer better protection against attacks than Windows 10 ever had.
- Reliable stability: According to Microsoft, Windows 11 version 24H2 is the most stable Windows yet – with 24% fewer unexpected restarts than Windows 10.
- AI & productivity in a new way: Copilot, Recall and Click‑to‑Do make work easier with smart support – according to Microsoft, workflows up to 50% faster are possible.
- Old hardware is compatible: Most Windows‑10 PCs have long met the requirements for Windows 11 – a free upgrade is enough.
